Abstract

The disclosure herein describes a lighting device which is adapted for use with a wheel bicycle (12) and which includes a magnet (20) mounted to one of the wheels (12) and a housing (28) mounted to the bicycle frame (14). A solenoid inside the housing (28) has a winding (32) and a core (34) closely mounted to the wheel (12). A lamp (36) is electrically connected to the solenoid winding (32) so that light is emitted as a result of the magnet (20) passing by the solenoid core (34) as the bicycle wheel rotates. The electrical system includes storage elements (206) which accumulate an excess of electrical energy during wheel rotation to thereby allow light to be emitted after the bicycle has come to a stationary position and until the excess has been used up.

On décrit un dispositif d'éclairage, conçu pour être utilisé sur une roue de bicyclette (12), qui comprend un aimant (20) monté sur une des roues (12) et un boîtier (28) monté sur le cadre (14) de la bicyclette. Un solénoïde, disposé dans ce boîtier (28), comporte un bobinage (32) et un noyau (34) situés tout près de la roue (12). Une lampe (36) est connectée électriquement au bobinage (32) de solénoïde de façon à émettre de la lumière quand l'aimant (20) passe à côté du noyau (34) de solénoïde lorsque la roue de la bicyclette tourne. Le système électrique comprend des éléments de stockage (206) qui accumulent un excédent d'énergie électrique pendant la rotation de la roue, ce qui permet d'émettre de la lumière après l'arrêt de la bicyclette, jusqu'à épuisement de cet excédent.
