A method for producing long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin composition for promoting the impregnation of fused thermoplastic resin discharged against a bundle of fibers which are opened in a web form so as to cover the same into and between the web-form fibers without damaging the fibers and mixing of deteriorated resin in an impregnated product comprising the steps of allowing a bundle of continuous fibers which are opened in a web form to pass through a covering die having a resin discharge port, covering at least one of upper and lower sides of the web-form bundle of continuous fibers with fused thermoplastic resin discharged from the resin discharge port, and, in an impregnation process comprising a plurality of bars set vertically in such a manner that the portions which are in contact with the web-form bundle of continuous fibers are substantially horizontal and that their longitudinal direction is perpendicular to the axial direction of the fibers, pulling in the web-form bundle of continuous fibers which is so covered substantially horizontally from the rear so as to bring it into contact with the bars at the top and bottom sides thereof, to thereby impregnate the bundle with fused thermoplastic resin.

Procédé de fabrication d'une composition de résine thermoplastique renforcée par des fibres longues. Ce procédé facilite l'imprégnation de la résine thermoplastique fondue libérée sur un faisceau de fibres ouvertes en nappe afin que les fibres, disposées en nappe, soient noyées dans cette résine, sans les endommager ni mélanger de la résine altérée à un produit imprégné. Il comprend les étapes consistant à permettre à un faisceau de fibres continues, ouvert de manière à constituer une nappe, de passer par une matrice d'enrobage comportant un orifice de libération de résine, et à enrober la face supérieure et/ou la face inférieure du faisceau de fibres continues disposées en nappe avec la résine thermoplastique fondue provenant de l'orifice de libération de la résine. Le procédé d'imprégnation met en ÷uvre une série de barres verticales disposées de telle manière que les parties qui sont au contact du faisceau de fibres continues en nappe soient essentiellement horizontales, tandis que leur sens longitudinal est perpendiculaire à l'orientation axiale des fibres. Le faisceau de fibres continues en nappe ainsi enrobé est tiré dans un sens essentiellement horizontal par l'arrière de manière à être amené au contact des barres, au niveau des faces supérieure et inférieure dudit faisceau, afin que ce dernier soit imprégné de résine thermoplastique fondue.
