A coupling means (8) for the drive shaft of prophy angles (10) includes an upper drive shaft assembly (12) with a finger-type clutch (14), a main drive shaft (18) with a clutch receptacle (20), and a drive shaft clamp (22). The main drive shaft (18) has an expansion slot (28) extending from side to side through the center of the main drive shaft (18) and substantially along the length of the clutch receptacle (20). The drive shaft clamp (22) also has an expansion slot (30) extending from side to side. The drive shaft clamp (22) fits over the clutch receptacle (20) end of the main drive shaft (18) with the expansion slots (28, 30) oriented perpendicular to each other allowing the finger-type clutch (14) of the main drive shaft (18) to be pressure fitted into the clutch receptacle (20), thereby presenting a coupled condition.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de connexion (8) axe moteur - contre-angle de prophylaxie dentaire (10). Ce dispositif se compose d'une tête (12) à joint par entures multiples (14), d'un axe moteur principal (18) pourvu d'un logement de joint (20), et d'une pince (22) prenant sur l'axe moteur. L'axe moteur principal (18) présente une fente ouvrante (28), passant par le centre de l'axe moteur principal (18), le traversant sur toute la longueur de son diamètre, et pratiquée sensiblement sur toute la longueur du logement de joint (20). La pince (22) prenant sur l'axe moteur présente également une fente ouvrante (30), traversant la pince sur toute la longueur de son diamètre. La pince (22) prenant sur l'axe moteur s'engage par l'extrémité à logement de joint (20) de l'axe moteur principal (18), les fentes ouvrantes (28, 30) se croisant à angle droit, ce qui fait que le joint par entures multiples (14) de l'axe moteur principal (18) est saisi par pression dans le logement de joint (20), réalisant ainsi l'état de connexion.
