Abstract

Cell culture apparatus comprises a frame (2), supporting a horizontal axis rotor (3) that houses a plurality of roller bottles (6). Each roller bottle is equipped with a dip tube (14) that communicates with a manifold (10) and a sealable external connection (17) via a multichannel peristaltic pump (8). The arrangement is such that process fluid (15) may be injected into or extracted from all the roller bottles (6) simultaneously via the external connection (17), by operation of the peristaltic pump (8). Each roller bottle (6) is equipped with a microporous air vent (13) to atmosphere to provide pressure equalisation when pumping fluid in or out of the bottle. The entire assembly comprising rotor (3), bottles (6), dip tubes (14), filters (13), pump (8), manifold (10), and external connection (17), may be rotated about a horizontal axis at a controlled speed for cell incubation purposes.

Ce dispositif servant à la culture de cellules comprend un cadre (2) supportant un élément tournant (3) à axe horizontal logeant une pluralité de bouteilles (6) pour agitateur rotatif, équipées chacune d'un tube plongeur (14) communiquant avec un collecteur (10) ainsi qu'avec un raccordement (17) extérieur pouvant se fermer de façon étanche, via une pompe (8) péristaltique à canaux multiples. Cette configuration est telle que le fluide (15) de traitement peut être injecté simultanément dans toutes les bouteilles (6) ou extrait en même temps de celles-ci, via le raccordement (17) extérieur, grâce à la pompe (8) péristaltique. Chaque bouteille (6) est équipée d'un orifice (13) microporeux de passage d'air vers l'atmosphère afin d'obtenir une égalisation de la pression lorsque l'on pompe le fluide dans la bouteille ou hors de celle-ci. L'assemblage tout entier comprenant l'élément tournant (3), les bouteilles (6), les tubes plongeurs (14), les filtres (13), la pompe (8), le collecteur (10) ainsi que le raccordement (17) extérieur, peut être mis en rotation autour d'un axe horizontal à une vitesse réglée aux fins d'incubation des cellules.
