An organic electroluminescent device comprising an anode, an organic hole transport layer, an organic emission layer and a cathode layered in this order on a substrate, or, optionally, comprising an additional electron transport layer between the organic emission layer and the cathode, wherein the organic emission layer comprises a naphthalimide derivative represented by formula (1) wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom, a straight chain or branched chain alkyl group having from 1 to 16 carbon atoms, an aryl group which may have substituents or an aralkyl group which may have substituents, and R2, R3, R4 are special substituents.

L'invention concerne un dispositif électroluminescent organique qui comprend une anode, une couche de transport de trous organique, une couche d'émission organique et une cathode, appliquées dans cet ordre sur un substrat, ou bien, qui comprend éventuellement une couche additionnelle de transport d'électrons placée entre la couche d'émission organique et la cathode, la couche d'émission organique contenant un dérivé de naphtalimide représenté par la formule (1), dans laquelle R1 représente un atome d'hydrogène, un groupe alkyle à chaine droite ou ramifiée, possédant 1 à 16 atomes de carbone, un groupe aryle pouvant comporter des substituants ou un groupe aralkyle pouvant comporter des substituants, et R2, R3 et R4 représentent des substituants spéciaux.
