Abstract

A method and apparatus for reciprocatingly orbiting a saw blade (12) with respect to a workpiece is provided. The saw blade (12) is cammingly driven through a cam track (28) to reciprocate the saw blade generally along a first axis (20) to saw the workpiece. The saw blade is contemporaneously driven through a bearing (34) to move the saw blade about a pivotal axis (24) to space the saw blade from the workpiece when it is not being sawed. Cam tracks (46, 48) of irregular configurations are provided for improving efficiency.

Appareil et procédé permettant d'imprimer à une lame de scie (12) un mouvement orbital par rapport à la pièce d'ouvrage. La lame de scie (12) est entraînée, par l'intermédiaire d'une came, selon une piste (28) de manière à décrire un mouvement de va-et-vient selon un premier axe (20) pour découper la pièce d'ouvrage. La lame de scie est simultanément entraînée, par l'intermédiaire d'un roulement (34), selon un mouvement pivotant par rapport à un axe de pivotement (24) de manière à s'éloigner de la pièce d'ouvrage lorsqu'elle ne la découpe pas. Les pistes (46, 48) des cames ont des configurations irrégulières pour améliorer l'efficacité de la découpe.
