Abstract

The limestone dissolution rate for limestone-containing slurries used in wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) systems is enhanced by the addition of ammonium ions. The ammonium ions may be obtained by incorporating into the limestone-containing slurry gaseous or aqueous ammonia and/or a water-soluble ammonium salt, such as ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride, or ammonium carbonate. Increasing the limestone dissolution rate for limestone-containing slurries used in WFGD systems allows courser limestone particles, lower limestone stoichiometry and lower slurry recycle rates to be employed, thereby saving capital and operating costs. The ammonium ions may be recovered and reused in the process.

On améliore la vitesse de dissolution du calcaire dans des boues contenant du calcaire, utilisées dans des systèmes de désulfuration par voie humide de gaz de combustion, en ajoutant des ions ammonium. On peut obtenir des ions ammonium en incorporant dans la boue contenant du calcaire de l'ammoniac gazeux ou liquide et/ou un sel d'ammonium soluble dans l'eau, tel que le sulfate d'ammonium, du chlorure d'ammonium ou du carbonate d'ammonium. En augmentant la vitesse de dissolution du calcaire dans les boues contenant du calcaire utilisées dans lesdits systèmes de désulfuration, on peut employer des particules de calcaire plus grossières, une stoechiométrie réduite et des vitesses de recyclage de la boue également réduites; ce qui permet d'alléger les coûts d'investissements et d'utilisation. Les ions ammonium peuvent être récupérés et réutilisés dans le procédé.
