Abstract

A non-acoustic pulse echo radar monitor (1) averages a large number of reflected pulses to produce a voltage that modulates an audio oscillator (39) to produce an audible tone that corresponds to the heart (22) or other body part motion. Both amplitude modulation and the Doppler effect are used. A dual time constant is used to reduce the effect of gross sensor-to-surface movement. The monitor includes a pulse generator (10) for simultaneously inputting a sequence of pulses to a transmit path (12) and a gating path (14). The pulses on the transmit path drive an impulse generator (16) which generates pulses to a transmit antenna (18). The gating path includes a range delay generator (30) which generates timed gating pulses. The timed gating pulses cause the receive path (15) to selectively conduct pulses reflected from the body part (22) and received by a receive antenna (20). Both antennas (18)(20) are flat copper foils which permit their use in a substantially flat housing.

Un appareil de surveillance (1) par radar, à échos d'impulsions non acoustiques, moyenne un grand nombre d'impulsions réfléchies pour produire une tension qui module un oscillateur audio (39) afin de produire un son audible qui correspond aux mouvements d'un c÷ur ou d'un autre organe corporel. On utilise tant la modulation d'amplitude que l'effet Doppler. Une double constante de temps permet de réduire l'effet des déplacements évidents du capteur sur une surface en cause. L'appareil comporte un générateur d'impulsions (10) qui envoie en entrée une séquence d'impulsions simultanément à un trajet d'émission (12) et à un trajet à porte (14). Lesimpulsions envoyées sur le trajet d'émission commandent un générateur impulsionnel (16) qui crée des impulsions destinées à une antenne d'émission (18). Le trajet à porte comporte un générateur de retard (30) qui produit des impulsions de sélection temporelle conduisant le trajet de réception (15) à n'acheminer que les impulsions renvoyées par les organes corporels (22) et reçues par l'antenne de réception (20). Les deux antennes (18, 20) sont constituées de feuilles de cuivre planes, ce qui permet de les utiliser dans un boîtier pratiquement plat.
