Abstract

A method of allocating channels in a cellular system in which sectored base sites (BS1, BS2...) serve subscribers equipped with directional antennas. Base sites are arranged in clusters (20), and within each cluster: the number of channels (0, 1, 2, 3) is equal to the number of base sites (BS3, BS4, BS5, BS7) and is greater than the number of sectors per base site; each channel is allocated once in each of the different sector directions; and the allocation pattern is not repeated within the cluster, whereby to minimise co-channel interference.

Procédé d'affectation de canaux dans un système cellulaire, dans lequel des sites de base BS1, BS2... divisés en secteurs desservent des abonnés équipés d'antennes directionnelles. Les sites de bases sont disposés en grappes (20) et, dans chaque grappe, le nombre de canaux (0, 1, 2, 3) est égal au nombre de sites de base BS3, BS4, BS5, BS7 et plus grand que le nombre de secteurs dans chaque site de base; chaque canal est affecté une fois dans chacune des différentes directions des secteurs, et le schéma d'affectation n'est pas répété dans la grappe, afin de minimiser les interférences entre les canaux.
