Abstract

The invention relates to a system and method for telecommunication, specifically interactive telecommunication, said system mainly comprising at least one transmission medium; user apparatus connectable to the transmission medium; server apparatus connectable to the transmission medium for exchange of information with the user apparatus; and coupling means for connecting the user apparatus and the transmission medium as desired, whereby said coupling means comprise means for controlling said user apparatus based on information from said server apparatus and for controlling said server apparatus based on information from said user apparatus; and means for creating and for performing communication with said server apparatus and said user apparatus. As a result of the above-mentioned characteristic properties of the system according to the invention, adjustment is achieved on two levels, namely adjustment of said Set-Top Unit to said transmission medium by said physical medium converter and adjustment of the communication between said Set-Top Unit and said server apparatus by programs in said Set-Top Unit originating from said server apparatus.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de télécommunication, notamment de télécommunication interactive, ledit système comprenant principalement au moins un support de transmission; un appareil utilisateur connectable au support de transmission, un appareil serveur connectable au support de transmission pour l'échange d'informations avec l'appareil utilisateur; et des moyens de couplage pour raccorder l'appareil utilisateur et le support de transmission à volonté, lesdits moyens de couplage comprenant des moyens pour commander ledit appareil utilisateur sur la base d'informations en provenance dudit appareil serveur et pour commander ce dernier sur la base d'informations en provenance dudit appareil utilisateur; ainsi que des moyens pour créer et exécuter la communication avec ledit appareil serveur et ledit appareil utilisateur. Par suite des caractéristiques précitées du sytème décrit, le réglage s'effectue à deux niveaux, à savoir un réglage de ladite unité de mise en ÷uvre sur ledit support de transmission par ledit convertisseur de support physique et un réglage de la communication entre ladite unité de mise en ÷uvre et ledit appareil serveur par des programmes dans ladite unité de mise en ÷uvre en provenance dudit appareil serveur.
