Method for decoding a multivalent electrical signal which can take a number n of states greater than two. An electrical magnitude, representative of the signal state in successive plateau periods (T1, T2, T3... Ti) of constant time T during which the electrical magnitude remains substantially invariable, is successively measured at constant time (T) intervals from an origin time (t0) which is determined by taking close measurements during a synchronization period so as to locate the plateau periods; the origin time is then fixed at half of one of the plateau periods.

Pour décoder un signal électrique multivalent pouvant prendre un nombre d'états n supérieur à deux, on effectue des mesures successives d'une grandeur électrique représentative de l'état du signal dans des périodes de palier successives (T1, T2, T3... Ti) de durée constante T au cours desquelles cette grandeur électrique reste sensiblement constante. Ces mesures sont effectuées à intervalles de temps (T) constants depuis un instant d'origine (t0) qui est déterminé en effectuant des mesures rapprochées pendant une période de synchronisation afin de repérer les périodes de palier: l'instant d'origine est alors fixé à la moitié d'une de ces périodes de palier.
