Abstract
(EN)
This relates to a system for and method of illuminating a sign, so that drivers and observers may easily recognize and read the sign and billboard. The apparatus employs an external illumination source that is easy to inspect and maintain. The illumination source and the sign or billboard are separately installed from each other. Light emitted from the illumination source forms an incident angle ($g(u)) in the range of 0° to about 30° at any point onthe road sign. A road sign area of the sign is made of a retroreflective sheet having a wide observation angle.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif d'éclairage d'un panneau de signalisation, afin que les conducteurs et les observateurs puissent le reconnaître et le lire facilement. Le dispositif met en application une source extérieure d'éclairage facile à contrôler et à entretenir. La source d'éclairage et le panneau de signalisation sont montés séparés l'un de l'autre. La lumière émise par la source d'éclairage crée un angle incident ($g(u)) dans une plage de 0° à 30° environ au niveau de tout point situé sur le panneau. Une zone de signalisation routière du panneau est réalisée au moyen d'une feuille rétroréfléchissante pourvue d'un angle d'observation large.
