Abstract

A ceramic/metallic, low polluting, long life, high performance, two-cycle gasoline engine (10) that requires no oil lubrication. This engine eliminates the need for oil lubrication by: a) incorporating advanced ceramic materials, such as silicon nitride for critical engine components (12, 14, 16), b) employing the use of gasoline as well as the products of combustion of gasoline as lubricants for some critical surfaces, and c) engineering design approaches for critical engine components (12, 14, 16) and assemblies. The elimination of the need for oil lubrication allows the engine (10) to produce far less pollutants than conventional two-cycle engines.

La présente invention concerne un moteur (10) à essence deux temps ne nécessitant aucune lubrification par huile. Ce moteur (10) est caractérisé par sa construction en céramique et en métal, par un niveau faible de pollution, par une longue durée de vie et par un rendement élevé. Ce moteur supprime le besoin de lubrification par huile grâce: a) à l'incorporation de matériaux céramiques évolués tels que le nitrure de silicium pour les pièces critiques du moteur (12, 14, 16), b) au recours à l'utilisation de l'essence ainsi qu'à l'utilisation des produits de combustion de l'essence comme lubrifiants pour certaines surfaces critiques, et c) à une approche spécifique pour la conception mécanique des pièces (12, 14, 16) et ensembles critiques du moteur. L'élimination du recours à la lubrification par huile permet au moteur de produire beaucoup moins d'effluents polluants que les moteurs deux temps conventionnels.
