Abstract

The compatibility with nitrile elastomer seals of lubricating compositions containing active sulphur-containing additives may be enhanced by treating the additives, or concentrates containing them, or the compositions themselves, with one or more olefinically unsaturated compounds selected from: (a) acyclic compounds having at least two double bonds with adjacent double bonds separated by two satured carbon atoms; (b) compounds containing an alicyclic ring, which ring contains at least, eight carbon atoms and at least two double bonds, each double bond being separated from the closest adjacent double bond(s) by two saturated carbon atoms; and (c) compounds containing a saturated alicyclic ring and at least one exocyclic double bond.

Selon la présente invention, il est possible d'accroître la compatibilité avec les joints élastomères nitrilés de compositions lubrifiantes contenant du soufre actif par traitement soit des additifs, soit des concentrés les contenant, soit encore des compositions, au moyen d'au moins un composé oléfiniquement insaturé choisi dans le groupe constitué: (a) de composés acycliques présentant au moins deux liaisons doubles, les liaisons doubles adjacentes étant séparées par deux atomes de carbone saturés; (b) des composés contenant un noyau alicyclique, lequel comporte au moins huit atomes de carbone et au moins deux liaisons doubles séparées chacune de la liaison double adjacente la plus proche (ou des liaisons doubles adjacentes les plus proches) par deux atomes de carbone saturés; et (c) des composés contenant un noyau alicyclique saturé et au moins une double liaison exocyclique.
