A system (10) for moving yarn (31) under substantially constant tension, including a translationally-fixed pivoting device (42), having a neutral position, for applying tension to a yarn (31), and a variable-speed yarn drive (48) for moving the yarn across the pivoting device (42). The rotational position of the pivoting device (42) is determined in relation to its neutral position, and in response, the speed of the yarn drive (48) is altered to move the pivoting device (42) closer to its neutral position for maintaining a relatively constant tension of the yarn (31).

Un système (10) pour déplacer un fil (31) sous une tension sensiblement constante comprend un dispositif pivotant (42) immobile en translation et ayant une position neutre, pour appliquer une tension au fil (31), ainsi qu'un dispositif (48) d'entraînement du fil à vitesse variable pour assurer le mouvement du fil dans le dispositif pivotant (42). La position de rotation du dispositif pivotant (42) est déterminée par rapport à sa position neutre et la vitesse du dispositif (48) d'entraînement du fil est modifiée en conséquence pour amener le dispositif pivotant (42) plus près de sa position neutre afin de maintenir une tension relativement constante sur le fil (31).
