Abstract

This invention is an apparatus for imaging an object using a transducer array (1) for transmitting one or more beams (2a, 2b) that are steered and/or translated to transmit scan lines for multiple excitation events, so as to scan a field of view of the object for sensing received signals reflected from the object after each excitation event on one or more receive beams on receive scan lines, and for transducing those sensed received signals into corresponding electrical signals. The method and apparatus is additionally for acquiring and storing coherent samples retaining both phase and amplitude information of those electrical signals obtained on the receive scan lines throughout at least a portion of the field of view, and for combining stored coherent samples associated with distinct receive beams to synthesize new coherent image samples aligned on synthetic scan lines, which are distinct from any one of (a) receive scan lines on which a signal was sensed, (b) transmit scan lines on which a signal was directed, or (c) transmit scan lines and receive scan lines. The method and apparatus is further for detecting the synthesized coherent image samples, and displaying or recording the resulting image field.

Cette invention concerne un appareil pour former l'image d'un objet au moyen d'un ensemble de transducteurs (1) conçus pour transmettre un ou plusieurs faisceaux (2a, 2b) qui sont dirigés et/ou traduits en lignes de balayage de transmission pour des événements à excitations multiples, de manière à balayer un champ de vision de l'objet et détecter les signaux reçus réfléchis par l'objet après chaque événement d'excitation sur un ou plusieurs faisceaux reçus sur les lignes de balayage de réception et pour traduire ces signaux reçus et détectés en signaux électriques correspondants. Le procédé et l'appareil permettent en outre d'acquérir et de mémoriser des échantillons cohérents conservant les informations sur la phase et l'amplitude des signaux électriques reçus sur les lignes de balayage de réception par au moins une portion du champ de vision, et de combiner les échantillons cohérents mémorisés associés avec les faisceaux reçus distincts, pour synthétiser de nouveaux échantillons d'images cohérentes alignés sur des lignes de balayage de synthèse, qui diffèrent (a) d'une quelconque des lignes de balayage de réception sur laquelle un signal a été détecté, (b) des lignes de balayage de transmission sur lesquelles un signal a été envoyé ou (c) les lignes de balayage de transmission et les lignes de balayage de réception. Le procédé et l'appareil selon l'invention permettent en outre de détecter des échantillons d'images cohérentes de synthèse et de visualiser ou d'enregistrer le champ d'image résultant.
