Abstract

First and second quality of service translators (206, 210) receive resource constraint inputs from source (202) and destination (204) users respectively. The translators (206, 210) each produce a requested and acceptable resource constraint set that are merged in a quality of service consolidator (208). An acceptable path between the source and destination is selected by a routing function unit (212) receiving input from the quality of service consolidator (208). Resources along the acceptable path are then allocated by a network resource allocator (214) coupled to the routing function unit (212). The merge scheme is particularly useful in consolidation of preferential resource constraints in ATM cell relay networks, especially LANS and WANS.

Des traducteurs (206, 210) possédant des première et seconde qualités de service reçoivent des valeurs d'entrée de contrainte de ressources respectivement d'un demandeur (202) et d'un destinataire (204). Ces traducteurs (206, 210) produisent chacun un ensemble de contraintes de ressources demandé et acceptable qui est fusionné dans un organe de groupage (208) possédant une qualité de service. Un trajet acceptable entre le demandeur et le destinataire est choisi par un module (212) à fonction d'acheminement qui reçoit la valeur d'entrée à partir dudit organe de groupage (208). Les ressources le long du trajet acceptable sont ensuite affectées par un organe (214) d'affectation de ressources de réseau couplé audit module (212). Le plan de fusion est particulièrement utile dans la consolidation des contraintes de ressources préférentielles dans des réseaux-relais à cellules de type MTA, notamment dans les réseaux locaux (LANS) et les réseaux à longue distance (WANS).
