Abstract

Esters associating phenylacetic, 3-phenylpropionic, 4-phenylbutyric and $i(n)-butyric acids with Su(OH)n monosaccharides or sugar alcohols, of general formula (I), in which the Su(OH)n precursor is a monosaccharide or sugar alcohol, selected so that its structure or that of its derivatives ensures that internal interesterification does not take place either because the ester based onthe general formula does not have a free hydroxyl grouping, or because with regard to the ester grouping, the free hydroxyl groupings are remotely located and/or badly aligned and/or bonded to a secondary carbon atom, and in which the Su(OH)n monosaccharide or sugar alcohol is preferably D-mannose carrying the ester grouping on the anomeric carbon atom or else is a pentitol, for example, xylitol carrying the ester grouping on the C-1 primary carbon atom. These novel esters are useful as drugs, in particular in the treatment of haemoglobin diseases and premalignant or malignant tumours.

Esters associant les acides phénylacétique, 3-phénylpropionique, 4-phénylbutyrique et Si(n)-butyrique à des oses ou des itols Su(OH)n et de formule générale (I) dans laquelle le précurseur Su(OH)n représente un ose ou un itol, choisi de sorte que sa structure ou celle de ses dérivés évite le processus de transestérification interne, soit parce que l'ester conforme à la formule générale ne possède pas de groupement hydroxyle libre, soit parce que par rapport au groupement ester, les groupements hydroxyles libres sont éloignés et/ou mal orientés et/ou liés à un atome de carbone secondaire, et dans laquelle l'ose ou l'itol Su(OH)n, de préférence le D-mannose portant le groupement ester sur l'atome de carbone anomérique ou encore un pentitol, comme par exemple, le xylitol portant le groupement ester sur l'atome de carbone primaire C-1. Ces nouveaux esters sont destinés à être utilisés comme médicaments, notamment dans les traitements des hémoglobinopathies et des tumeurs prémalignes et malignes.
