Title (EN) AQUEOUS FOAMABLE COMPOSITION
(FR) COMPOSITION AQUEUSE MOUSSANTE
Abstract: front page image
(EN)There is provided an aqueous foamable composition having a delayed foaming action on expulsion from a pressurised container, the composition comprising: (a) a major amount by weight of water; (b) a foaming agent in the form of a water-immiscible liquefied gas; (c) at least one foam-stabilising and emulsifying surfactant; and (d) a water-soluble polymer. The compositions of the invention are of particular use for rectal or vaginal administration of pharmaceuticals. For medical use, the composition will also contain a pharmaceutically active ingredient. If desired, a muco-adhesive ingredient may also be included. Conventional additives for pharmaceutical compositions are optionally also present.
