A method and apparatus for unifying the pressure/flow and ventilation/perfusion ratios is disclosed. The apparatus includes monitors (38) which measure the medical condition of a patient. The monitors (38) are connected to an interface (40) and a relational database (42) and software which implements the method of the invention. The method includes determining the initial health condition of a patient to define a pulmonary pressure flow curve for each of a plurality of lung compartments of the patient, applying a stimulus of hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction to the pressure flow curve for each compartment to obtain a pressure flow curve for each compartment, and deriving a pulmonary artery pressure value corresponding to a ventilation/perfusion ratio that satisfies both the individual and total pressure flow requirements for the pulmonary pressure/flow curves.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif d'unification des modèles ventilation/perfusion et débit-pression. Le dispositif se compose de moniteurs (38) mesurant l'état médical d'un patient. Les moniteurs (38) sont raccordés à une interface (40), à une base de données relationnelle (42) ainsi qu'à un logiciel mettant en ÷uvre le procédé de l'invention. Le procédé consiste d'abord à déterminer l'état de santé initial d'un patient pour définir une courbe débit-pression pulmonaires pour chacune des différentes alvéoles du poumon du patient, à appliquer un stimulus de vasoconstriction pulmonaire hypoxique à la courbe débit-pression pour chaque alvéole concernée, de façon à obtenir une courbe débit-pression pour chaque alvéole concernée, puis à déduire une valeur de pression artérielle pulmonaire correspondant à un rapport ventilation/perfusion qui soit conforme aux besoins débit-pression tant individuel que total en ce qui concerne les courbes débit-pression pulmonaires.
