A polyester resin for toner, which is composed of an acid component containing at least one member selected from the group consisting of aromatic dicarboxylic acids and lower alkyl esters thereof and an alcohol component containing at least one member selected from among bisphenol A derivative diols and wherein the content of aldehyde compounds, decomposition products thereof and by-products is 200 ppm or less. The resin does not emit any irritant odor in the step of preparing a toner, and the toner does not emit any irritant odor even when heated in copying work. Further, the toner gives well-defined images free from fogging due to a reduction in the transparency of a copy, has a wider range of reproduction of color tone, and is excellent in the image accuracy of a copy.

L'invention concerne une résine polyester pour un toner, qui est constituée par un composant acide comprenant au moins un élément choisi dans le groupe constitué par les acides aromatiques dicarboxyliques et leurs alkyle esters inférieurs et par un composant alcool comprenant au moins un élément choisi dans le groupe constitué par les diols dérivés du bisphénol A. La teneur de la résine en composés aldéhydiques, en produits de décomposition et en produits dérivés de ceux-ci est égale ou inférieure à 200 ppm. La résine n'émet aucune odeur irritante à l'étape de préparation du toner et le toner n'émet pas d'odeur irritante, même lorsqu'il est chauffé lors d'opérations de copiage. En outre, le toner fournit des images bien définies exemptes des voiles provoqués par la diminution de la transparence d'une copie, il permet des reproductions dans une palette plus large de tons de couleurs et il fournit des copies dont les images sont très précises.
