Auf gegenüberliegenden Seiten des zu überwachenden Bereiches sind eine Sende-/Empfangseinrichtung und eine Reflektoreinrichtung angeordnet. Letztere besteht aus einer Empfangsantenne, deren Signal über einen Wilkinson-Teiler oder einen Zirkulator einem Oberflächenwellen-Laufzeitelement zugeführt ist. Das von diesem zurückkommende Signal wird vom Wilkinson-Teiler bzw. dem Zirkulator einem Verstärker zugeführt, der eine Senderantenne speist, die das Signal zur Sende-/Empfangseinrichtung zurückstrahlt. Im Strahlenfeld vorhandene Objekte führen zu einer Veränderung der Amplitude des reflektierten Signals, so daß mit Hilfe einer Auswerteeinrichtung, im einfachsten Falle eines Amplitudendiskriminators, das Objekt festgestellt werden kann. Die Signale können gepulste Radarsignale sein. Vorteilhaft werden jedoch frequenzmodulierte Signale entsprechend dem FMCW-Radar verwendet, so daß zusätzlich zur Amplitude des reflektierten Signals auch die Frequenzdifferenz zwischen gesendetem und reflektiertem Signal als Kriterium für im überwachten Bereich vorhandene Objekte herangezogen werden kann. Die Erfindung wird eingesetzt zum Überwachen von Bahnübergängen.

A transmitter-receiver and a reflector are arrangement on opposite sides of the region to be monitored. The reflector consists of a receiving aerial, the signal from which is taken via a Wilkinson divider or a circulator to a surface wave transit time component. The signal returning therefrom is taken by the Wilkinson divider or the circulator to an amplifier powering a transmission aerial which beams the signal back to the transmitter-receiver . Objects in the beam field cause a change in the amplitude of the reflected signal so that the object can be detected with the aid of an evaluating device, in the simplest case an amplitude discriminator. The signals may be pulsed radar signals. Advantageously, however, frequency-modulated signals corresponding to FMCW radar are used so that, in addition to the amplitude of the reflected signal, the difference in frequency between the transmitted and reflected signals can also be used as a criterion for the objects in the monitored region. The invention is used for monitoring railway crossings.

Un émetteur-récepteur et un réflecteur sont placés sur les faces opposées de la zone à surveiller. Le réflecteur comprend une antenne réceptrice dont le signal est acheminé, par l'intermédiaire d'un séparateur de Wilkinson ou d'un circulateur, jusqu'à un élément de retard à ondes de surface. Le signal qui revient de cet élément est acheminé, par le séparateur de Wilkinson ou le circulateur, jusqu'à un amplificateur qui alimente une antenne émettrice qui rediffuse le signal vers l'émetteur-récepteur. Des objets situés dans le champ de rayonnement entraînent une modification de l'amplitude du signal réfléchi, de manière à ce que l'objet concerné puisse être détecté à l'aide d'un dispositif d'évaluation, dans le plus simple des cas, à l'aide d'un discriminateur d'amplitude. Les signaux peuvent être des signaux radar pulsés. On utilise cependant de préférence des signaux modulés en fréquence, correspondant au radar à ondes entretenues à modulation de fréquence, de manière à ce que outre l'amplitude du signal réfléchi, la différence de fréquence entre le signal émis et le signal réfléchi puisse également servir de critère pour les objets présents dans la zone surveillée. L'invention s'utilise pour surveiller les passages à niveau.
