Method and plant for the purification of polluted water by the activated sludge method whereby a mixture of polluted water and recycled sludge is subjected to biological treatments in at least two treatment zones, comprising maintaining for a period such conditions in one of the treatment zones that a sludge precipitation occurs therein, supplying in a subsequent period the mixture of polluted water and recycled sludge directly or indirectly to the zone which, during the preceding period, served as a sludge precipitation zone prior to further treatment thereof in one or more treatment zones, and passing the treated water to a permanent clarification zone and separating it into a water fraction and a sludge fraction, at least a part of the latter being recycled and mixed with polluted water.

L'invention concerne un procédé et une station de purification des eaux usées par activation des boues. Le procédé consiste à soumettre un mélange d'eaux usées et de boues recyclées à des traitements biologiques dans au moins deux zones de traitement, à maintenir dans une des zones de traitement pendant une période des conditions favorisant la précipitation des boues, à alimenter par la suite directement ou indirectement la zone en un mélange d'eaux usées et de boues recyclées, cette zone ayant, pendant la période précédente, servi de zone de précipitation des boues avant leur traitement ultérieur; et à faire passer les eaux traitées dans une zone de clarification permanente et à les séparer en une fraction d'eau et une fraction de boues, au moins une partie de celle-ci étant recyclée et mélangée aux eaux polluées.
