Abstract

The described embodiment of an edge-of-part (EOP) scribe device (10) is operative to simultaneously scribe trim lines in an oversized, cured leading-edge sheath (120) mounted on a sheath mold assembly (160) so that the scribed, cured leading-edge sheath may be cut along the scribed trim lines to form a prefabricated leading-edge sheath having finished edges for a helicopter main rotor blade (100). Trim line templates (168) having profile edges (170) defining the profiles of the finished edges of the prefabricated leading-edge sheath are affixed to the sheath mold assembly. The EOP scribe device includes a primary carriage assembly (12) having V-groove rollers (14) secured thereto wherein the primary carriage assembly is translatable in a spanwise direction along side rails (166) secured to the sheath mold assembly, handles (16) for mounting and dismounting the EOP scribe (10) device in combination with the sheath mold assembly, opposed pairs of guide rails (18) affixed to the primary carriage assembly, and a secondary carriage assembly (20) mounted in movable combination with each pair of guide rails. Each secondary carriage assembly includes a spring-loaded scribe head (22) mounted in movable combination therewith, a positioning knob (24) secured in rigid combination with the scribe head and operative to allow the scribe head to be moved between a disengaged position for mounting/dismounting of the EOP scribe device and a scribe position for inscribing a trim line in the cured leading-edge sheath, a rigid follower linkage (26) secured to the secondary carriage assembly, and a follower slide roller (26) mounted in rotatable combination with the rigid follower linkage. The spring-loaded scribe head (22) includes a hardened scriber (30) for scribing the trim line and a tolerance roller (32) that interacts with the cured leading-edge sheath during the scribing operation to define the depth of the scribed trim line. With the EOP scribe device mounted in combination with the sheath mold assembly and the spring-loaded scribe heads in the scribe position, each follower slide roller interacts with the respective profiled edge (170). As the primary carriage assembly is subjected to spanwise translation along the sheath mold assembly, dimensional changes in the profiled edges induce vertical displacements in the follower slide rollers, the induced vertical displacements being coupled through the rigid follower linkages to cause corresponding vertical displacements in the secondary carriage assemblies and concomitantly, in the scribe heads. The vertical displacement of the hardened scribers matches the respective profiled edges such that the scribed trim lines correspond to the profiles of the finished edges of the prefabricated leading-edge sheath.

Le mode de réalisation décrit d'un dispositif de traçage (10) de bord de pièce (EOP) sert à tracer simultanément des contours de détourage dans une gaine de bord d'attaque surdimensionnée et durcie (120), montée sur un ensemble de moulage de gaine (160), de manière à pouvoir découper la gaine de bord d'attaque durcie et tracée le long des contours de détourage tracés, afin d'obtenir une gaine de bord d'attaque préfabriquée possédant des bords finis pour une pale de rotor principal (100) d'hélicoptère. Des gabarits de contour de détourage (168) possédant des bords profilés (170) définissant les profils des bords finis de la gaine de bord d'attaque préfabriquée sont fixés à l'ensemble de moulage de gaine. Le dispositif de traçage EOP comprend un premier ensemble chariot (12) auquel sont fixés des galets à gorge en V (14) et pouvant se déplacer dans un sens en envergure le long de rails latéraux (166) fixés à l'ensemble de moulage de gaine, des poignées (16) servant à monter et à démonter le dispositif de traçage EOP (10) en combinaison avec l'ensemble de moulage de gaine, des paires opposées de rails de guidage (18) fixées audit premier ensemble chariot, ainsi qu'un deuxième ensemble chariot (20) monté en combinaison mobile avec chaque paire de rails de guidage. Chaque deuxième ensemble chariot comprend une tête de traçage chargée par ressort (22), montée en combinaison mobile avec ledit ensemble, un bouton de positionnement (24) fixé en combinaison rigide avec la tête de traçage et servant à provoquer le déplacement entre une position désaccouplée de montage/démontage du dispositif de traçage EOP et une position de traçage servant à inscrire un contour de détourage dans la gaine de bord d'attaque durcie, une came d'accouplement rigide (26) fixée au deuxième ensemble chariot et un galet de came coulissant (26) monté en combinaison rotative avec la came d'accouplement rigide. La tête de traçage chargée par ressort (22) comprend un traceur durci (30) servant à tracer le contour de détourage et un galet de tolérance (32) coopérant avec la gaine de bord d'attaque durcie pendant l'opération de traçage, de façon à définir la profondeur du contour de détourage tracé. Le dispositif de traçage EOP étant monté accouplé à l'ensemble de moulage de gaine et la tête de traçage chargée par ressort se trouvant en position de traçage, chaque galet de came coulissant coopère avec le bord profilé respectif (170). Simultanément à la soumission du premier ensemble chariot à une translation en envergure le long de l'ensemble de moulage de gaine, des modifications dimensionnelles des bords profilés provoquent des déplacements verticaux dans les galets de came coulissants, lesdits déplacements verticaux étant accouplés par l'intermédiaire des cames d'accouplement rigides, de façon à provoquer des déplacements verticaux correspondants dans les deuxièmes ensembles chariot et, simultanément, dans la tête de traçage. Le déplacement vertical des traceurs durcis suit les bords profilés respectifs, de telle manière que les contours de détourage tracés correspondent aux profils des bords finis de la gaine de bord d'attaque préfabriquée.
