Chewing gum products containing maltodextrin and methods of making such gum products are disclosed. In one embodiment, aspartame is used to sweeten the gum composition, and maltodextrin is provided in an amount effective to stabilize the aspartame such that after six weeks of storage at 85 °F, at least 5 % less aspartame decomposes than would have decomposed if the maltodextrin were not included. In another embodiment, a maltodextrin which has been purified to remove fermentable components is used in chewing gum.

L'invention concerne des gommes à mâcher contenant de la malto-dextrine ainsi que leurs procédés de fabrication. Dans un mode de réalisation, de l'aspartame est utilisée pour édulcorer la composition de gomme, et de la malto-dextrine est ajoutée en dose efficace pour stabiliser l'aspartame de sorte qu'après six semaines de stockage à 85 °F, l'aspartame subit une décomposition inférieure d'au moins 5 % à celle subie lorsque la malto-dextrine n'est pas utilisée. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, de la malto-dextrine purifiée, c'est-à-dire débarrassée des composants fermentescibles, est utilisée dans la gomme à mâcher.
