Abstract

A contoured gas turbine blade (25) has tapered outer surfaces (28) projecting from a base (40) which is secured to a work holder (70) mounted on a rotary table (64). This table is supported by an X-Y cross slide (42), and separate stepping motor (52) to rotate and move the holder on the three axes. A high speed grinder motor (88) has a shaft (91) supporting a grinding wheel (95) for rotation on a forth axis generally parallel to the rotary axis. The grinder motor is supported for universal tilting movement on fifth and sixth axes, and two stepping motors (162, 168) and ball screw slides (146, 167) control the tilting movement. An adjustable follower (180) is supported adjacent the grinding wheel (95) for engaging the blade (25) while the blade moves, and the grinding wheel (95) removes weld flash (34) from the tip (32) of the blade to form a tapered contoured blade surface.

Une aube profilée de turbine à gaz (25) possède des surfaces extérieures (28) formant une saillie depuis une base (40) fixée à un support (70) monté sur une table rotative (64). Cette table est supportée par une coulisse transversale X-Y (42) et un moteur pas à pas séparé (52) permet de faire tourner et de déplacer le support sur les trois axes. Un moteur d'affûtage à vitesse élevée (88) possède un arbre (91) supportant une meule (95), afin que celle-ci effectue une rotation sur un quatrième axe généralement parallèle à l'axe de rotation. Le moteur d'affûtage est supporté de façon à effectuer un déplacement universel de bascule sur un cinquième et sur un sixième axe et deux moteurs pas à pas (162, 168), ainsi que des coulisses à vis à billes (146, 167) commandent ledit déplacement de bascule. Un galet de came réglable (180) est supporté en position contiguë à la meule (95), de façon à venir en contact avec l'aube (25) simultanément au déplacement de cette dernière, et la meule (95) supprime les bavures de soudure (34) de la pointe (32) de l'aube, ce qui permet d'obtenir une surface d'aube conique et profilée.
