Abstract:
(EN) The invention provides a method of, an applicator for, and apparatus for utilising an applicator for electrostatically coating an article with a thin coating of liquid, comprising creating an electrostatic field between an article to be coated and a very fine annular or longitudinally extending gap which is stable, of fixed width and of uniform cross section and supplying liquid to said very fine stable gap, whereby said liquid in passing through said stable gap is atomised to produce a spray of fine particles which is applied to the article to form a uniform coating of liquid thereon for example, for use in the aluminium, steel and automotive industries.
(FR) L'invention se rapporte à un procédé, à un applicateur (10, 41) ainsi qu'à un appareil destiné à être utilisé avec l'applicateur, permettant d'enduire par voie électrostatique un article d'une fine couche de liquide, consistant à créer un champ électrostatique entre l'article à enduire et un espace annulaire (30) ou longitudinal (54 A) très étroit, cet espace étant stable, de largeur déterminée et de section uniforme, et à alimenter en liquide cet espace stable très étroit, à la suite de quoi le liquide passant par cet espace stable est atomisé pour produire une pulvérisation de fines particules qui viennent s'appliquer sur l'article pour former un revêtement uniforme de liquide sur celui-ci. On peut utiliser ce procédé, par exemple, dans les industries de l'aluminium, de l'acier et de l'automobile.
