Abstract:
In the production of a catalyser containing a catalytically active Mo-V-O phase the problem arises of keeping the Mo-V-O phase and/or an Mo-V-Ti-O phase largely free from other catalytically active additives in order not to catalyse any competitive reactions. To this end, according to the invention, vanadium oxide and molybdenum oxide are mixed in the proportion of 0.7 to 1 % wt. in relation to V2O5 and MoO3, the mixture is heated to a temperature of over 500 °C, the Mo-V-O phase produced is cooled, ground and then subjected to a reducing treatment and dispersed on a heated oxidic substrate (33), whereafter the dispersed material is ground, applied, possibly with other additives, to a suitable macroscopic substrate (66) and calcined. Alternatively, the material dispersed on the oxidic substrate (33) is kneaded into an extrudible compound with additives and then calcined so that the honeycomb body produced from this compound has a web width of 0.1 to 0.6 mm and cell densities of 50 to 1200 cells per square inch.
