A non-contact profile control method capable of preventing a cable of a non-contact sensor from winding round a tracer head when the contour profiling of a three-dimensional model shape is done in a non-contacting manner. Two distance detectors (5a, 5b) are provided on a tracer head (4), and a normal vector of a model surface (6) is determined on the basis of a measurement value obtained by sampling the profile data from the tracer head (4). A contour profile control operation is carried out by turning the distance detectors (5a, 5b) to control the directions thereof to be in agreement with that in which a perpendicular plane including this normal vector extends. When the tracer head (4) has made a round of the model (6), a reverse turning control is performed in the direction opposite to that in which the tracer head (4) has turned. This can prevent the cables (7a, 7b) from winding round the tracer head (4), and enables a contour profiling operation to be carried out continuously.

Procédé de suivi sans contact de profil permettant d'empêcher que le câble d'un capteur sans contact s'enroule autour d'une tête de palpeur lors du suivi du contour d'un modèle tridimensionnel effectué sans contact. Deux capteurs de mesure de distance (5a, 5b) sont montés sur une tête de palpeur (4), et un vecteur normal d'une surface (6) servant de modèle est déterminé sur la base d'une valeur de mesure obtenu par échantillonnage des données de profil provenant de la tête de palpeur (4). Pour effectuer l'opération de suivi du contour, on fait tourner les capteurs de mesure de distance (5a, 5b) pour leur donner une orientation correspondante à la direction dans laquelle s'étend un plan perpendiculaire qui comprend ledit vecteur normal. Lorsque la tête de palpeur (4) a fait le tour du modèle (6), ladite tête de palpeur effectue un mouvement inverse, c'est-à-dire un mouvement dans la direction opposée à celle dans laquelle elle vient de tourner. Cela empêche que les câbles (7a, 7b) s'enroulent autour de la tête de palpeur (4), et permet l'exécution en continu de l'opération de suivi de contour.
