Abstract

A method and apparatus for choosing the most optimum communication channel in a system (100) having a plurality of communication channels provides for reduced interference and increased system capacity. By establishing a set of threshold levels and comparing these threshold levels to receive signal strength level measurements for each of the communication channels, a communication device originating a call can be guaranteed of establishing communication using the communication channel with the least chance of being affected by interference or of affecting other channels already in use.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de sélectionner le canal de communication optimal dans un système (100) comportant une pluralité de canaux de communication et prévoyant la réduction des interférences et l'accroissement de la capacité du système. En établissant un ensemble de seuils et en comparant ces seuils pour recevoir les mesures de niveau d'intensité des signaux pour chacun des canaux de communication, un dispositif de communication émettant un appel assure l'établissement d'une communication à l'aide du canal de communication ayant la plus petite chance d'être touché par des interférences et de toucher d'autres canaux déjà en service.
