Abstract:
(EN) An insertable intracavity probe (10) for use in magnetic resonance imaging of an area of interest in a body cavity particularly the colon, has an elongate shaft with a handle (18) at its proximal end and an inflatable balloon structure (16) at its distal end. The balloon structure has an outer balloon (26) containing a loop-type pickup coil (20) for connection to an interfacing network (12). The coil is sandwiched between two internal separately inflatable balloons (22 and 24), and when the probe is inserted, the coil can be optimally positioned relative to the area of interest by controlled differential inflation of the balloons. The probe also has an insertable rod-like mandrel (56) for providing twisting orbital-type movement of the balloon structure on the shaft, by rotation of the mandrel, useful to steer the probe along curves or bends in the body cavity when it is being inserted. In a modified form of the probe, the mandrel can be used to rotate the coil and the internal balloons as a unit within the outer balloon for optimal $i(in situ) angular positioning of the coil.
(FR) Sonde endocavitaire à insertion (10) utilisée en imagerie par résonance magnétique dans une zone à examiner dans une cavité de l'organisme, notamment le côlon. Elle possède une tige allongée dont l'extrémité proximale porte une poignée (18) tandis que l'extrémité distale porte une structure à ballonnet gonflable (16). La structure à ballonnet possède un ballonnet extérieur (26) contenant une bobine exploratrice (20) du type à boucle reliée à un réseau d'interface (12). La bobine est intercalée entre deux ballonnets intérieurs gonflables séparément (22 et 24) et, lors de l'introduction de la sonde, on peut optimiser le positionnement de la bobine par rapport à la zone à examiner par gonflage différentiel des ballonnets intérieurs de manière appropriée. La sonde possède également un mandrin allongé (56) insérable entraînant, par sa rotation, un mouvement de torsion du type orbital de la structure à ballonnet située sur l'arbre, ce qui permet d'orienter la sonde en fonction des courbes et détours de la cavité dans laquelle on l'introduit. Selon une variante de réalisation de la sonde, le mandrin peut servir à faire tourner simultanément la bobine et les ballonnets intérieurs à l'intérieur du ballonnet extérieur, afin d'optimiser le positionnement angulaire $i(in situ) de la bobine.
