A thin film magnetic record/playback head (10) having suitably thin layers (34) of soft, high permeability magnetic material, such as permalloy, electrically insulated from each other by very thin layers (36) of a magnetic material having suitably high resistivity, such as NiZn ferrite. The improved magnetic record/playback head is capable of reading and writing much higher bit densities (up to about 100 kfci) and at much higher frequencies (100 MHz or higher) than prior art devices while remaining fully compatible with existing electronic circuitry.

Une tête magnétique à couches minces d'enregistrement/reproduction comprend des couches minces (34) d'épaisseur appropriée en un matériau magnétique doux très perméable, tel qu'un permalloy, électriquement isolées les unes des autres par des couches très minces (36) en un matériau magnétique ayant une résistivité élevée appropriée, tel le ferrite de NiZn. Cette tête magnétique améliorée d'enregistrement/reproduction est capable de lire et d'écrire des densités d'enregistrement en bits beaucoup plus élevées (de 100 MHz ou davantage) que des dispositifs de l'état antérieur de l'art, tout en restant totalement compatible avec les circuits électroniques existants.
