A method is disclosed wherein standard generating motions for the production of bevel and hypoid gears are modified by the substantially simultaneous inclusion of additional controlled motions which enable a desired tooth surface geometry to be produced on the gears. The additional motions comprise varying the position of intersection of the theoretical generating gear axis (5) and the pitch plane and/or varying the orientation of the tooth surfaces (6) of the theoretical generating gear (4) with respect to the body of the theoretical generating gear. A CNC machine is preferably utilized for carrying out the inventive process. The inventive process is applicable to generating processes of both the face milling and face hobbing type.

On décrit un procédé selon lequel des mouvements de taillage en développante classiques, destinés à la fabrication d'engrenages coniques et hypoïdes sont modifiés par l'addition presque simultanée de mouvements régulés additionnels qui permettent de produire une géométrie de surface de dent désirée sur les engrenages. Les mouvements additionnels sont obtenus lorsqu'on modifie la position de l'intersection de l'axe de la roue génératrice théorique (5) et du plan d'inclinaison, et/ou qu'on modifie l'orientation des surfaces (6) des dents de la roue génératrice théorique (4) par rapport au corps de la roue génératrice théorique. Une machine-outil à commande numérique par ordinateur est de préférence utilisée pour mettre en pratique le procédé. Celui-ci peut s'appliquer à des procédés de taillage à la fois du type à fraisage et du type à usinage en développante des surfaces.
