An arrangement for driving a rotary tool (17) is provided in which the tool shank (18) is engaged and frictionally driven by the engagement of three or more drive rollers (14, 15, 16). Axial movement of the tool (17) is accomplished by tilting the axes of the rollers (14, 15, 16) as permitted by flexible portions (84) of the shafts (78) which drive the rollers (14, 15, 16). The tool (17) is released by moving one roller (16) away from the other two (14, 15). A pressure foot (115) is provided at the bottom of the assembly reciprocated by a cam arrangement (139) to engage the workpiece (13) when the tool (17) is in operation. A position pick-off (103, 104) senses the axial position of the tool (17) so that the tilt angle of the rollers (14, 15, 16) can be controlled.

L'invention se rapporte à un agencement pour l'entraînement d'un outil rotatif (17), qui utilise au moins trois roulettes d'entraînement (14, 15, 16) qui viennent se placer en contact avec la tige (18) de l'outil et qui l'entraînent par friction. On obtient le déplacement axial de l'outil (17) en inclinant les axes des roulettes (14, 15, 16) dans la limite permise par les parties flexibles (84) des arbres (78) qui entraînenent les roulettes (14, 15, 16). On libère l'outil (17) en éloignant l'une des roulettes (16) des deux autres (14, 15). On prévoit dans la partie inférieure de l'ensemble un pied presseur (115) qui est mis en mouvement alternatif par un agencement à came (139), de façon à venir en contact avec la pièce à travailler (13) pendant le fonctionnement de l'outil (17). Un capteur de position (103, 104) détecte la position axiale de l'outil (17) pour qu'on puisse réguler l'angle d'inclinaison des roulettes (14, 15, 16).
