Abstract:
(EN) The invention concerns electrooptic modulators. It consists in associating a Y junction coupler having a length L1 (101-108) with a passive coupler (104, 105), the length L2 of which compared with the coupling length LC2 is established in order to substantially nullify the third order distortions of the modulator. A modulator is obtained in which all the even distortions are nullified, the odd order distortion is substantially nil and the extinction level may be nil.
(FR) L'invention concerne les modulateurs électrooptiques. Elle consiste à associer un modulateur du type coupleur à jonction Y de longueur L1 (101-108) à un coupleur passif (104, 105) dont la longueur L2 par rapport à la longueur de couplage LC2 est déterminée pour annuler sensiblement la distorsion d'ordre 3 du modulateur. Elle permet d'obtenir un modulateur dont toutes les distorsions paires sont annulées, dont la distortion d'ordre impair est sensiblement nulle et dont le taux d'extinction peut éventuellement être nul.
