Abstract:
(EN) A disc brake assembly (1) of the kind including a calliper (6) and two pad assemblies (3, 4), each of which is operable to engage a respective opposite side of a brake disc (5) when the brake assembly is installed on a vehicle. The calliper includes a housing (8) having a cylinder formed therein, and a piston which carries one of the pad assemblies (3) is slidable within that cylinder. The calliper (6) also has a bridge (7) which is connected to the housing (8) and which carries the other pad assembly (4). A mounting arm (12, 13) is connected at one end to the combination formed by the pad assemblies (3, 4) and the calliper (6), and is connectable at its opposite end to a support (2). The arm (12, 13) extends generally transverse relative to the axis of the calliper cylinder and is deflectable relative to the associated support (2) in the general direction of that axis so as to allow the pad assembies (3, 4) to move towards and away from their respective adjacent sides of the disc (5). The arm (12, 13) is resistant to deflection however, in at least one direction transverse to the cylinder axis and functions to hold the aforementioned combination in an operative position relative to the disc (5) when in use.
(FR) Ensemble de frein à disque (1) de type à étrier (6) et comportant deux ensembles patins (3, 4), chacun de ces ensembles pouvant être actionné pour s'engager avec un côté opposé respectif d'un disque de frein (5) lorsque l'ensemble frein est monté sur un véhicule. L'étrier comprend un logement (8) ayant à l'intérieur la forme d'un cylindre, et un piston qui supporte l'un des ensembles patins (3) et qui peut se glisser dans ledit cylindre. L'étrier (6) comprend en outre un pont (7) qui est relié au logement (8) et qui supporte l'autre ensemble patin (4). Un bras de montage (12, 13) est relié à l'une des extrémités à l'ensemble combiné que forment les ensembles patins (3, 4) et l'étrier (6), et peut se monter à l'autre extrémité sur un support (2). Le bras (12, 13) s'étend généralement sur un plan transversal par rapport à l'axe cylindrique de l'étrier et peut être incliné par rapport au support qui lui est associé (2) dans la direction générale dudit axe, de manière à permettre aux ensembles patins (3, 4) de s'approcher ou de s'éloigner de leur côté adjacent respectif de disque (5). Le bras (12, 13) ne peut pas s'incliner toutefois dans au moins une direction transversale par rapport à l'axe du cylindre et a pour fonction de maintenir ledit ensemble combiné mentionné plus haut dans une position de fonctionnement par rapport au disque (5) lorsqu'il est utilisé.
