Abstract:
(EN) The present invention describes a system for supplying the primary combustion air to a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine (10) including a trochoidal chamber air pump (56) having a pair of puming chambers (56a, 56b) interposed between an air intake (72) and each of the cylinders (14, 16) of the engine. Each pumping chamber has an air inlet (64, 66) connected to an air intake, and an air outlet (52, 54) that is connected to the cylinders. In a two-cycle mode of operation, each pumping chamber outlet is connected to one engine cylinder. In a four-cycle mode of operation, each pumping chamber outlet is connected to a pair of cylinders to supply air during the intake stroke. The input shaft (62) of the trochoidal chamber air pump is driven by, and may be connected directly to, the crankshaft (22) of the engine so as to rotate on a 1:1 ratio.
(FR) Cette invention concerne un système d'alimentation en air de combustion primaire destiné à un moteur à combustion interne à piston alternatif (10) comprenant une pompe à air à chambre trochoïde (56) dotée de deux chambres d'aspiration (56a, 56b) intercalées entre un orifice d'aspiration de l'air (72) et chacun des cylindres (14, 16) du moteur. Chaque chambre d'aspiration comprend un orifice d'entrée pour l'air (64, 66) connecté à l'orifice d'aspiration de l'air et un orifice de sortie pour l'air (52, 54) qui est connecté aux cylindres. Dans le mode de fonctionnement à deux temps, chaque chambre d'aspiration est connectée à un cylindre du moteur.
