Title (EN) METHOD FOR PLASMA JET SPRAYING OF BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE COATINGS ON AN IMPLANT
(FR) PROCEDE DE PULVERISATION DANS UN JET DE PLASMA DE REVETEMENTS BIOLOGIQUEMENT ACTIFS SUR UN IMPLANT
Abstract:
(EN) A method for plasma jet spraying of biologically active coatings provides for generating a turbulent plasma jet (2), feeding into it powders of aluminium oxide and hydroxylapatite with a particle size of to 0.5-5 $g(m)m, and subjecting the implant (8) to the plasma jet (2) containing the powder particles. The implant (8) is so placed that the distance from its surface to be coated to the point of feeding the aluminium oxide powder into the plasma jet (2) corresponds to the degree of deposition of melted and accelerated particles of the aluminium oxide on the surface of the implant (8) and is equal, along the plane crossing the plasma jet (2) at the point of feeding into it the hydroxylapatite powder, to 5-7 diameters of the turbulent plasma jet (2) in that plane, and the aluminium oxide powder is fed into the turbulent plasma jet (2) no further from the exit of the plasmatron nozzle (4), along the flow direction of the plasma jet (2), than the hydroxylapatite powder. The weight of the hydroxylapatite fed exceeds that of the aluminium oxide.
