Abstract:
(EN) An improved method for recovering metals, particularly aluminium, from slag without requiring any addition of flux salts, which method is far safer than existing methods, particularly those using electron torches to heat the slag being processed. According to the method, the slag is placed in a rotary or tilting furnace and heated to a temperature above the melting point of aluminium while the furnace is rotated or tilted to facilitate separation of the metal. The aluminium thereby separated is removed from the furnace, whereafter the remaining slag is also removed. Said method is characterized in that the furnace used is a radiant arc furnace including two opposite, preferably graphite electrodes between which an electric arc is formed and sustained to provide heating.
(FR) L'invention a pour objet un procédé amélioré pour récupérer des métaux, notamment l'aluminium, de scories les contenant, lequel procédé ne requiert pas l'apport de sels fluxants et est beaucoup plus sécuritaire que les procédés existants, notamment ceux utilisant une torche à plasma pour chauffer les scories à traiter. Selon ce procédé, on introduit des scories à traiter dans un four rotatif ou oscillant. On chauffe les scories ainsi introduites à une température supérieure à celle de fusion de l'aluminium tout en faisant tourner ou osciller le four pour favoriser la séparation du métal. On retire du four l'aluminium ainsi séparé avant de retirer ensuite les scories restantes. Ce procédé est caractérisé en ce que le four utilisé est un four à arc rayonnant, comprenant deux électrodes opposées, de préférence faites en graphite, entre lesquelles un arc électrique est formé et maintenu pour assurer le chauffage.
