Abstract:
(EN) A method is disclosed for producing a polyurea-cellulose composite material from substantially delignified cellulosic material and an isocyanate resin. The isocyanate resin comprises a polyisocyanate, preferably PMDI, and a miscible organic solvent, preferably one such as propylene carbonate having a high boiling point and low flammability and toxicity. The composite surprisingly exhibits values of physical parameters that are at least as good as, and sometimes far superior to, corresponding parameters of similar composites made using neat (undiluted) polyisocyanate. Single- and multiple-ply composites can be made, employing only a single curing step.
(FR) Procédé de production d'une matière composite en polyurée-cellulose à partir d'une matière cellulosique délignifiée et d'une résine d'isocyanate. La résine d'isocyanate comprend un polyisocyanate, de préférence PMDI, ainsi qu'un solvant organique miscible, de préférence du carbonate de propylène ayant un point d'ébullition élevé ainsi que des niveaux d'inflammabilité et de toxicité faibles. On a constaté avec surprise que le composite présente des valeurs de paramètres physiques au moins aussi bonnes et parfois nettement supérieures à celles de paramètres correspondants de composites similaires produits à l'aide de polyisocyanate non dilué. On peut produire des composites monocouches et multicouches en une seule étape de cuisson.
