Abstract:
(EN) A process is provided for treating aqueous waste or groundwater contaminated with nitro-containing organic chemicals to degrade the compound sufficiently to permit disposal of the waste or groundwater, said process comprising the steps of (a) adjusting the pH in the range of ± 3 pH units from the pKa of said compound and (b) treating said waste or groundwater with at least one hydroxyl radical generating agent (e.g. ozone).
(FR) Procédé de traitement des eaux usées ou souterraines contaminées par des produits chimiques organiques à teneur en nitrocomposés, de manière à décomposer suffisamment le composé pour permettre le rejet des eaux usées ou souterraines. Ledit procédé consiste (a) à porter le pH à un niveau qui est différent du pKa dudit composé de l'ordre de ± 3 unités pH; et (b) à traiter lesdites eaux usées ou souterraines avec un agent générateur de radicaux hydroxyle (par exemple l'ozone).
