CLAIMS

1. The use of a phenol or mixture of phenols in the preparation of a composition for the treatment or prevention of smelly feet or the like.

2. A method for the treatment or prevention of smelly feet or the like which comprises applying a phenol- or mixed phenol-containing composition to the skin of the user, or to a garment for the affected or potentially affected area, the composition being adapted to provide thereby extended contact or proximity of the phenol with the skin of the user in said area.

3. A method according to claim 2 wherein the composition is applied daily for a period of several days, followed by a longer period in which the composition is not applied.

4. A method according to claim 2 or claim 3 wherein the compositxon is applied to the user's footwear.

5. A composition for the treatment or prevention of smelly feet or the like, which comprises a phenol or mixture or phenols together with one or more other ingredients to produce a composition suitable for application to the skin of the user or to a garment for said skin so as to provide extended contact or proximity of the phenol with the skin.

6. A composition of claim 5 wherein said other ingredients comprise one or more macrogols.

7. A composition of claim 6 in the form of a semi-solid formulation.

8. A composition of claim 7 which employs one or more macrogols to provide an effective average molecular weight in the range of 800-1500.

9. A stick or roll-on applicator incorporating a composition of claim 7 or claim 8.

10. A composition according to claim 5 or claim 6 in the form of an aerosol.

11. A garment, or material for a garment, treated with one or more phenols so as to provided extended contact or proximity of the phenol with the skin of the wearer.

12. Footwear, or material for footwear, treated with one or more phenols so as to provided extended contact or proximity of the phenol with the skin of the wearer.
