Abstract

The invention comprises a flexible parts feeding system (10) which can feed a large number of different types of parts to a manipulator (44). The system comprises a vibrating platform (16), a conveyor belt (18), a series of guides (20, 22) to assist in positioning and orienting parts, a vision based system (36) for determining the orientation of a part in the staging area, and a device (15) for instructing the manipulator to grasp the part if it is properly oriented in the staging area. The vibratory amplitude and speed, the speed of the conveyor belts (18, 26), the positioning of the guides and the part signature of the vision system are all programmable responsive to the part which is to be fed.

Système d'amenée de pièces souple (10) pouvant amener un grand nombre de différents types de pièces à un manipulateur (44). Le système comprend une plateforme vibrante (16), une bande de manutention (18), une série de guides (20, 22) destinée à aider au positionnement et à l'orientation des pièces, un système de vision (36) permettant de déterminer l'orientation d'une pièce dans la zone de travail, et un dispositif (15) destiné à transmettre au manipulateur l'instruction de saisir la pièce si elle est correctement orientée dans la zone de travail.
