Abstract
(EN) System for controlling a spark ignition engine to maximize fuel efficiency over its entire range of operating conditions. The system includes apparatus (20) for controlling the amount of fuel delivered to the engine and apparatus (26) for measuring the internal cylinder pressure in at least one cylinder of the engine. Apparatus is provided for estimating the air mass entering the engine and computing apparatus (20) calculates the engine efficiency from the amount of fuel delivered, the internal cylinder pressure and the estimated air mass entering the engine. In one embodiment, efficiency is measured by calculation of the approximate indicated specific fuel consumption. Apparatus (20) is provided for varying the amount of fuel delivered to the engine to minimize the indicated specific fuel consumption over the entire range of operating conditions of the engine. In this embodiment, apparatus is provided which is responsive to a desired engine power output beyond wide open throttle plate and apparatus is provided for delivering a greater quantity of fuel beyond the wide open throttle plate posiiton maximum efficiency point.
(FR) Système de commande d'un moteur à allumage par étincelles, destiné à maximiser le rendement du carburant à tous les régimes de fonctionnement. Le système comprend un appareil (200 servant à réguler le volume de carburant fourni au moteur et un appareil (26) servant à mesurer la pression interne des cylindres dans au moins l'un des cylindres du moteur. L'appareil est prévu pour estimer la masse d'air pénétrant dans le moteur, et un appareil (20) calcule le rendement du moteur en fonction du volume de carburant fourni, de la pression interne du cylindre et de la masse d'air estimée pénétrant dans le moteur. Selon un mode de réalisation, le rendement est mesuré à partir du calcul de la consommation approximative indiquée de carburant spécifique.
