Abstract:
(EN) A pre-load indicating washer (40) in which a plurality of protuberances (44), struck and partially sheared from the annular body (42) of the washer (40), are pushed under load back into a corresponding plurality of indentations (48) in the annular body (42) which are formed when the protuberances (44) are formed. The walls (58, 60) of the protuberances (44) and the walls (68, 70) of the indentations (48) are arranged so that when the protuberances (44) are ''collapsed'' back into the indentations (48), there is minimal frictional resistance as the walls (58, 60) of the protuberances (44) slide past the walls (68, 70) of the indentations (48).
