Abstract:
(EN) The reflective insulation unit has a rigid frame (2) consisting of a four-sided corrugated cardboard structure which is generally rectangular in cross-section, the top (4) and bottom (6) being sized to closely fit within the dimensions of a construction bay. Multiple sheets of paper and foil (16, 18) are attached to the inside surfaces (12, 14) of the sides so that the sheets are parallel to the top and bottom of the frame and to each other with a fixed spacing between the sheets. For shipping and storage purposes the frame may be folded at the corners and flattened so that the sides become parallel with the top, bottom and sheets. For installation, with the sides at right angles to the top and bottom, end pieces consisting of corrugated cardboard of the same dimension as the cross-section of the frame with tabs or flaps (23, 24, 25) folded at its edges are inserted into the open ends of the frame forming the fifth and sixth sides of a box and creating a self-framed insulating unit. The completed insulating unit may be set in place between the beams of the structure without any means of fastening to the beam, but merely a support to prevent the unit from falling.
(FR) Unité d'isolation réfléchissante ayant un cadre rigide (2) formé par une structure de carton ondulé quadrangulaire de section généralement rectangulaire, la partie supérieure (4) et la partie inférieure (6) étant dimensionnées pour pouvoir s'adapter facilement à une ouverture de construction. Des couches multiples de papier et de feuilles métalliques (16, 18) sont fixées aux surfaces intérieures (12, 14) des côtés de sorte que les couches sont parallèles à la partie supérieure et à la partie inférieure du cadre et l'une par rapport à l'autre, avec un espacement fixe. Pour le transport et le stockage, le cadre peut être plié aux coins et aplati de façon que les côtés soient placés en position parallèle avec les parties supérieure et inférieure et avec les couches. Lors de l'installation, les côtés étant à angle droit avec les parties supérieure et inférieure, les pièces terminales en carton ondulé de la même dimension que la section du cadre avec des pattes ou des rabats (23, 24, 25) pliés aux bords de ce cadre sont insérées dans les extrémités ouvertes du cadre et forment le cinquième et le sixième côtés d'une boîte, et créent une unité d'isolation ayant un cadre autonome. L'unité d'isolation finie peut être mise en place entre les poutres de la structure sans aucun moyen de fixation sur la poutre, mais simplement à l'aide d'un appui qui empêche l'unité de tomber.
