Abstract:
(EN) A process for producing hydrogen and/or sulphur dioxide simultaneously with the production of calcium sulphate, either as calcium sulphate dihydrate or calcium sulphate hemihydrate from waste products containing calcium sulphite and other calcium salts. The waste solid containing calcium sulphite and other calcium salts is treated by the addition of aqueous sulphur dioxide solution or sulphuric acid solution to produce a liquid phase product. The liquid phase product may be separated from any remaining solid phase material and then subjected to the addition of sulphuric acid in the second step, wherein either calcium sulphate dihydrate salt or calcium sulphate hemihydrate is produced. The addition of sulphuric acid to the liquid phase results in the evolution of sulphur dioxide which may be used as such or in sulphur dioxide electrolysis cells in order to produce hydrogen and sulphuric acid. An especially unique feature of the process is that the sulphuric acid produced in generating hydrogen can be recycled to the step where the calcium sulphate crystals are produced.
(FR) Procédé permettant d'obtenir de l'hydrogène et/ou du dioxyde de soufre simultanément à la production de sulfate de calcium, soit comme dihydrate de sulfate de calcium soit comme semi-hydrate de sulfate de calcium à partir de déchets contenant du sulfite de calcium et d'autres sels de calcium. On traite les déchets solides contenant du sulfite de calcium et d'autres sels de calcium par l'adjonction d'une solution aqueuse de dioxyde de soufre ou d'une solution d'acide sulfurique pour obtenir un produit en phase liquide. On peut séparer le produit en phase liquide du matériau en phase solide restant et ensuite le soumettre à l'adjonction d'acide sulfurique lors de la deuxième étape, dans laquelle on obtient soit le sel de dihydrate de calcium soit le semi-hydrate de sulfate de calcium. L'adjonction d'acide sulfurique à la phase liquide entraîne l'émission de dioxyde de soufre que l'on peut utiliser en tant que tel ou alors dans des cellules d'électrolyse de dioxyde de soufre pour obtenir de l'hydrogène ou de l'acide sulfurique. Ce procédé se distingue en particulier en ce que l'acide sulfurique obtenu lors de la génération de l'hydrogène peut être renvoyé vers l'étape où l'on obtient les cristaux de sulfate de calcium.
