Abstract:
(EN) The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for suppressing the propagation of explosions in the flow of a powdered material/air mixture comprising the step of introducing a swirl component to the flow of the powdered material/air mixture about the axis of flow to cause segregation of the powdered material such that the resulting distribution of powdered material will be more concentrated within a given area of the cross-section of flow thus restricting access of a burning particle from an upstream explosion to the oxygen in the air.
(FR) Procédé et appareil destinés à éliminer la propagation des explosions dans le flux d'un mélange matériau pulvérisé/air consistant à introduire une composante tourbillonnaire dans le flux du mélange matériau pulvérisé/air, selon l'axe du flux, de manière à provoquer la ségrégation du matériau pulvérisé, afin que la répartition résultante du matériau pulvérisé soit plus concentrée dans une zone donnée de la coupe transversale du flux, ce qui limite l'accès d'une particule ardente, venant d'une explosion en amont, à l'oxygène de l'air.
