Abstract:
(EN) There is disclosed a dummy device for moulding a bone cavity form, and a method of manufacture of a prosthetic device to be implanted in any given bone cavity and derived from the moulded dummy form. The moulded form corresponds at least partly with the shape of a bone cavity (12, 16, 14), which is to receive a prosthetic joint, with the cavity having an enlarged proximal end (12) and a narrower distal end (14), and the moulded form enabling the required profile of the prosthetic joint to be derived therefrom in order to be implanted in the bone cavity. The method uses a model (10) having a preformed proximal dummy portion (11) to fit in the proximal end (12) of the bone cavity, a distal end portion (13) to be received by the distal end (14) of the cavity, and a bag (15) to enclose at least the dummy head portion (11) of the model. After introduction of the model into the bone cavity, the space between the outer surface of the dummy portion (11) and the inner surface of the bag (15) is filled with a moulding composition which expends the bag into intimate contact with the wall surface of the cavity in the proximal end portion (12), and this composition is then allowed to set, after which the moulded form is removed from the cavity to form a moulded model from which the required profile of the prosthetic joint can be derived by following the external shape of the moulded model (22) with a profile detector (21) and causing a machine to shape the outer profile of a prosthetic joint (24) with a corresponding shape so that the prosthetic joint can be implanted into the bone cavity.
(FR) On décrit un dispositif à maquette servant à mouler un élément profilé adapté à une cavité osseuse, et un procédé de fabrication d'un dispositif prothétique devant être implanté dans n'importe quelle cavité osseuse donnée et dérivé du profil de maquette moulée. L'élément profilé moulé correspond au moins en partie à la forme d'une cavité osseuse (12, 16, 14) destinée à recevoir une articulation prothétique, la cavité comportant une extrémité proximale élargie (12) et une extrémité distale plus étroite (14), et l'élément profilé moulé permettant de modeler le profil requis de l'articulation prothétique afin d'implanter celle-ci dans la cavité osseuse. Le procédé consiste à utiliser un modèle (10) comportant une partie proximale en maquette préformée (11) s'adaptant à l'extrémité proximale (12) de la cavité osseuse, et une partie d'extrémité distale (13) devant être reçue par l'extrémité distale (14) de la cavité, ainsi qu'un sac (15) servant à enfermer au moins la partie de tête de maquette (11) du modèle. Après l'insertion du modèle dans la cavité osseuse, l'espace entre la surface externe de la maquette (11) et la surface interne du sac (15) est rempli d'une composition de moulage qui élargit le sac de manière qu'il entre en contact intime avec la surface de la paroi de la cavité dans sa partie d'extrémité proximale (12), et on laisse alors prendre cette composition. La forme moulée est ensuite enlevée de la cavité pour produire un modèle moulé à partir duquel le profil requis de l'articulation prothétique peut être modelé, le procédé consistant à suivre la forme externe du modèle moulé (22) au moyen d'un détecteur de profil (21) et à faire en sorte qu'une machine modèle le profil externe d'une articulation prothétique (24) dans une forme correspondante afin que l'articulation puisse être implantée dans la cavité osseuse.
