Abstract:
(EN) The present invention relates to a novel process for forming metal matrix composite bodies. Specifically, in a particularly preferred embodiment for making metal matrix composite bodies by a spontaneous infiltration technique, an infiltration enhancer and/or an infiltration enhancer precursor and/or an infiltrating atmosphere are in communication with a rigidized filler material or a rigidized preform (58), at least at some point during the process, which permits molten matrix metal to spontaneously infiltrate the rigidized filler material or rigidized preform. Such spontaneous infiltration occurs without the requirement for the application of any pressure or vacuum.

Dans un mode préférentiel de réalisation pour la fabrication de corps composites à matrice métallique d'infiltration par une technique d'infiltration spontanée, un renforçateur et/ou un précurseur de renforçateur d'infiltration et/ou une atmosphère d'infiltration sont en communication avec une matière de remplissage rigidifiée ou une préforme rigidifiée (58), au moins à un certain stade du processus, ce qui permet à la matrice de métal fondu d'infiltrer spontanément la matière de remplissage rigidifiée ou la préforme rigidifiée. Une telle infiltration spontanée se produit sans que l'application d'une pression ou la formation d'un vide soit nécessaire.
